Barry

Barry – The Distinguished Bow Tie Beagle

Barry was born on 17 April 2023 and flew from Brisbane to Perth to join our family in February 2024.

Before coming home, Barry spent time with an incredible foster family alongside his foster brother, Sherlock, who helped him learn that people could be trusted and life could be full of love.

I'll never forget opening his green travel crate at Perth Airport.

Before I'd even said hello, Barry gently placed one paw on each of my shoulders.

In that moment, I knew we'd made one of the best decisions of our lives.

After one very long toilet stop, Barry happily jumped into the car and headed home, where a mountain of toys was waiting for him.

People often say rescue dogs need three days to decompress, three weeks to learn the routine and three months to truly feel at home.

Barry seemed to decide he was home within days.

Today, you'll usually find Barry tucked underneath the blankets between Mum and Dad, enjoying the world's cosiest sleep.

Barry isn't much of a morning dog, but once he's awake, he's ready for whatever adventure the day brings.

Known as The Distinguished Bow Tie Beagle, Barry has a growing collection of handmade bow ties lovingly created by Mum. He's also an accredited sniffer dog and loves every opportunity to show off his scent-detection skills.

Barry is gentle, thoughtful and affectionate—a true gentleman with the biggest heart.
